STUDENT FUNDING

A Further Education bursary is available for eligible full-time students aged 18 and over on the following courses:

An Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) is available for eligible students. The EMA programme aims to provide financial support to 16- to 19-year-olds who are attending non-advanced learning in school, college or are on an Activity Agreement. It is also available to those who are home-educated.

Before starting college, you must make sure you have suitable funding support to finance your studies. All funds are extremely limited and applications will be dealt with on a first come, first served basis.

Applications for funding support must be submitted by the designated deadline. However the application for funding support does not in itself guarantee payment of the award, as funds are restricted.

Students should not make important decisions affecting their studies or employment until written confirmation as to eligibility for an award has been received.

You can download a Student Funding Application 2023/2024 and Student Funding Information 2023/2024 and Care Experience form here.

Further resources are available at the Scottish Government’s new student information website. This website includes a budget calculator and a funding checker, which provides an estimate on how much you could potentially receive.

Students ordinarily resident in Scotland have their tuition fees paid for them. For this course, you must apply to the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) to have your fees paid. Your entitlement to tuition fees and bursary support may be affected if you have already undertaken degree level studies. You should consult SAAS for further guidance.
