James Robertson: Scotland in Every Story - Chronicler of Scottish Lives

James Robertson is a poet, editor and writer of fiction. He grew up in Bridge of Allan, studied History at the Universities of Edinburgh and Pennsylvania, and worked in the book trade for several years before becoming a full-time writer.
In this talk, James Robertson discusses the irony that we live in a multilingual society, yet the learning of modern languages is in steep decline. He relates this to changing political and social priorities and massive technological change but also refers to the fact that although Scotland has been multilingual throughout its history.
He will also talk about the role of libraries in our history and why protecting them and investing in their future is so important.
