Welcome to our information page for users of British Sign Language. The BSL National Plan for Scotland was published on 24 October 2017, and it has ten long-term goals. These goals represent the collective ambition for BSL in Scotland and underpin the Scottish Government’s overall ambition – to make Scotland the best place in the world for BSL users to live, work and visit.

In support of this initiative, we have developed our BSL Action Plan which outlines our commitment to achieving the aims of the British Sign Language (Scotland) Act 2017. It sets out the actions we will take over the next six years to promote awareness and use of BSL. We are committed to working towards a future where BSL users have equal access to education and teaching services.
